Joanna and David’s summer wedding at The Mansion House in Tunbridge Wells was a wonderfully intimate celebration centred around family, laughter and plenty of personality. With warm seasonal light filling the historic ceremony rooms and their closest loved ones gathered around them, the day had a relaxed atmosphere from the very beginning. But it was their 18-month-old daughter who provided one of the most memorable moments of the ceremony. Her perfectly timed interruption had the whole room laughing and set the tone for a joyful wedding that was an absolute pleasure to photograph.

There is something incredibly special about intimate weddings, and this summer celebration at Mansion House in Tunbridge Wells was no exception. Bathed in beautiful, warm seasonal light, the historic venue provided a gorgeous, relaxed backdrop for a day focused entirely on family.

While the bride and groom looked stunning, it was their 18-month-old daughter who stole the limelight.

Right as the couple were preparing to exchange their vows, the celebrant asked the room if anyone objected to the marriage. Out of nowhere, a tiny voice from the front row confidently chimed in: "No, no, no!"
The room erupted into laughter. Capturing that exact moment of pure, unscripted joy is exactly why I love being a wedding photographer. It was a beautiful, lighthearted day that I felt incredibly privileged to document.
Overlooking the leafy lawns of Calverley Park, The Mansion House is a white-stucco Victorian gem that has been welcoming couples since it was first converted from a private residence in 1886. Managed today by Kent County Council, the building offers three licensed ceremony suites - each flooded with natural light and dressed in period elegance - making it one of the most convenient and photogenic civil venues in Royal Tunbridge Wells. (And yes, it’s entirely separate from the late-night Manor House bar on Church Road!) With the Pantiles, Chapel Place and picturesque Calverley Grounds all a short stroll away, your portrait backdrops are virtually on the doorstep.
